What is EFT?

EFT (or Emotional Freedom Technique) is a method to work with stuck emotions and memories and give these the space they need to resolve.

Every emotion has a start and an end. However, some emotions are to hard to bear (specially in early childhood), so we just split from them to maintain our safety. We become dissociated from the painful emotion/event, so we can no longer access the pain. However, the painful event is still in our subconscious mind and affecting our lives, many times in ways that we are not aware of.

By giving space to the memory/emotion, it can start to shift and change while the emotional charge is being reduced. At the end, the emotion is integrated and the emotional pressure evaporates. This sounds very paradoxical, but once the emotional charge of an event goes down, all the associated emotions and thoughts no longer create a negative reaction on our side. When the painful emotion dissolves, the associated thoughts loose their grip on us.

This is difficult to comprehend unless experienced. In the end, there are no bad or good emotions. Some might be more uncomfortable than others but all are natural reactions to our internal state and the outside world. By giving space to all of them they start to loose their power over us, and become part of ourselves, offering guidance on how to live authentically.

What is Hacking Reality?

In certain ocassions, a memory will pop up during the process. Many times, these memories were forgotten and we suddenly realise that they are connected to the issue at hand. When this happens, it is the perfect moment to work with an approach to EFT called Hacking Reality (or Matrix Reimprinting).

This technique allows us to step into a memory and work directly with our younger selves. The EFT practitioner and the client become co-practitioners that are there to help the younger self. This method is similar to regular EFT, but the tapping is performed on the younger self, to calm any difficult emotions they are feeling in the moment. This allows the image to shift, as well as the perspective of the younger self, who relaxes and lets go all the difficult emotions of that moment. We ask what the younger self needs so that the needs can be met in that moment.

The shifts in the memory that our younger self experiences can be reimprinted in our current body and the new wonderful feelings reach us from our younger self.

Changing the picture of a memory does not ignore what happened in reality. What occurs is that, after the process, a new picture appears with some wonderful feelings associated to it. This allows us to recall the once-difficult memory with the new great feelings of new picture.

This advanced version of EFT can quickly and permanently heal painful memories when they arise.

These last years, I have also explored other forms of internal work that can be extremely valuable. These include jungian psychoanalysis, neigong and a techique called “Letting go”. All these offer powerful concepts that allow us to have the power of tackling the issues that appear to be the hardest ones.
